COSMETOLOGY | 1,000 HOUR COURSE

Become a Cosmetologist at Hoss Lee Academy

The cosmetology course covers all technical and practical subjects of Cosmetology as prescribed by the criteria set forth by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.

Our curriculum includes subject areas such as Hair Coloring, Permanent Waving, Chemical Straightening, Haircutting, Thermal and Wet Hairstyling including formal, vintage, and bridal styles, Facials, Makeup, Waxing, Manicuring, Pedicuring, Artificial Nails, Eyelash lifts/perms, and Eyelash/Eyebrow Tinting.

The course is structured to include four levels of training: Introductory or Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and an Advanced Practical Test Out phase. Each level is designed to further develop the skills taught in the previous level and introduce more advanced modern techniques for each of the five major subject areas-cutting, color, chemical texture, styling, and spa services. The purpose of this structure is to ensure the student has the opportunity to put the techniques taught at each level into practice and gain competency before additional techniques are taught.

Strategic partnerships with Matrix®, aDermalogica®, and Kryolan®, Cirepil® and RefectoCil® provide our students advanced education on the latest procedures and salon techniques. Our students are also given several opportunities per year to participate in local theatrical productions, fashion shows and community service events that will help them learn the art of Special FX makeup, theatrical hair styling, wig making and artificial beard laying.

Additionally, all cosmetology students rotate through the HLA exclusive business training course for salon and spa professionals in order to be equipped to succeed in the business aspect of the industry.

We do our absolute best to ensure our students are very well prepared and confident when they go take their licensing examination.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Diploma, Proof of Training Document, and be qualified to take the California State Board examination for Cosmetology.

The California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology will issue a state license upon successfully passing the required written exam.
