Our Curriculum is designed to teach you the “why” of what you are learning as opposed to only teaching you “how” to do it. Our mission is pure and simple: To provide a quality post-secondary education with an emphasis on the required business skills needed to create a long, successful career. If choosing the cosmetology course, you will spend your first 10 weeks in a classroom setting focused on Salon Fundamentals Classes. If choosing the esthetics course, you will spend your first 10 weeks in a classroom setting focused on Freshmen Fundamentals and Junior Advanced Classes.

Following successful completion of the Salon or Spa Fundamentals classes you will be able to practice your new trade on real life clients for the duration of your schooling! You will also complete HLA exclusive business training courses that focus solely on the Salon and Spa Professional.

HLA offers two different scheduling options: Full-time Day and Part-time Day. The full-time schedule is 35 hours per week, Tuesday – Saturday, 8:30am to 4pm. The part-time schedule is 27 hours per week, Tuesday – Friday 8:30am – 1:30pm and Saturday 8:30am – 4pm.

Full-time students can complete the Esthetics course in just 4 1/2 months and part-time students in as little as 5.5 months. The Cosmetology course can be as short as 6.5 months for full-time students and 8.5 months for part-time students.

Additionally, our part-time schedule gives you the flexibility to stay past 1:30pm on weekdays creating the opportunity to graduate earlier and begin the career you love sooner.

HLA provides small, intimate class sizes that allow different types of learning styles to flourish. Our curriculum was developed by incorporating varying teaching methodologies to ensure comprehension of the material explained.

Students also complete theory workbook chapters and hands-on operations on clients and mannequins to apply what they learned in lecture.
